You’ve positioned words on paper that boldly, eloquently, and unapologetically articulate what many womanist practiontioners sense, suspect, and dare to speculate! That our hope for a more just church and society is not an anemic abstraction or naïve optimism—it is substantive, solidified in sacred memory, and sustained by hope, with receipts. It is the kind of hope fortified through the fires of Black women’s lived and ancestral experiences; Black women who demanded transformation, not just survival. Black women who speak up, stand up, and show up even if it costs us!

Thank you so much for this timely and powerful piece. Since the 2024 Election, I have asked numerous times, "Where is God?" Does God really care about the oppressed?" You have helped and hoped me to remember that God is as close as we are and that God is indeed working as God is working through us..
